Vacancies – General Faculties Council (GFC) and GFC Standing Committees

We are seeking nominations to populate the following upcoming vacancies on General Faculties Council (GFC) and GFC Standing Committees.

General Faculties Council

  • Two (2) full-time academic faculty members from the Faculty of Business (term ending June 30, 2029)
  • One (1) full-time academic faculty member from the Faculty of Health Disciplines (term ending June 30, 2028)
  • Two (2) full-time academic faculty members from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (term ending June 30, 2029)
  • One (1) full-time academic faculty member from the Faculty of Science and Technology (term ending June 30, 2027)
  • One (1) full-time academic faculty member from the Faculty of Science and Technology (term ending June 30, 2028)
  • Two (2) full-time academic faculty members from the Faculty of Science and Technology (term ending June 30, 2029)
  • One (1) non-academic staff member (term ending June 30, 2029)
  • One (1) tutor/academic expert, Faculty of Health Disciplines (term ending June 30, 2028)
  • One (1) tutor/academic expert, Faculty of Science and Technology (term ending June 30, 2028)

GFC Academic Excellence Awards Committee

  • One (1) full-time academic faculty member from the Faculty of Business (term ending June 30, 2029)
  • One (1) full-time academic faculty member from the Faculty of Health Disciplines (term ending June 30, 2029)
  • One (1) full-time academic faculty member from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (term ending June 30, 2029)

GFC Academic Planning, Policy, and Standards Committee

  • One (1) full-time academic faculty member from the Faculty of Business (term ending June 30, 2029)
  • One (1) full-time academic faculty member from the Faculty of Science and Technology (term ending June 30, 2029)
  • One (1) Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, Inuit) representative, academic staff or non-academic staff and self-declare I, the nominee, am of Indigenous (FNMI) ancestry as defined by my nation/community in the land known as Canada. (term July 1, 2026-June 30, 2029)

 GFC Student Awards Committee

  • One (1) full-time academic faculty member from the Faculty of Business (term ending June 20, 2029)

Points to Consider

Nominees for the full-time academic faculty member positions must meet the criteria set out in section 3.1.1 of the GFC Rules, which states:

“Academic staff means academic staff who are appointed under the Faculty Association agreement to a full-time faculty position in which the person has been or may be granted tenure, and includes Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors, and Academic Coordinators.”

Nominees for the full-time non-academic staff position must meet the criteria set out in section 3.1.9 of the GFC Rules, which states:

“Non-academic staff means staff members who are appointed to a full- time Professional or Excluded Professional position.”

In accordance with section 4.3 of the GFC Rules, members of the academic and non-academic staff on any combination of leave for over three (3) continuous months are ineligible to serve as members of GFC and GFC Standing Committees.  

Information regarding GFC and its Standing Committees, including the July 2026-June 2027 Meeting Schedule is available on the Office of the Chief Governance Officer and General Counsel website.

If required, elections will be conducted, through a confidential voting software (Simply Voting), only if more than one nomination is received for a position. If only one nomination is received for a position, that nominee will be considered elected by acclamation.
